Mirage Artifacts
Mirage Artifacts
(2011)
Six sculptures made of shattered and routed clear acrylic on top of a pedestal made of altered mirrored acrylic and airbrushed steel.
Each of the Mirage Artifacts are based on a group of diagrams that I accidentally discovered hidden behind old crumbling drywall in my Los Angeles studio. I used the linear pattern of these diagrams as a three-layered footprint to construct the translucent object's shape.
Directional light shines through the Mirage Artifacts and reflects off of the mirror surface of the base, casting distorted light formations onto the surrounding walls.
