The ones you see and the ones you don't
The Ones You See And The Ones You Don't
(2006) Resin, foam, brass, plaster, acrylic, and wood
sphere: 28 in. diameter base: 35 in. x 35 in. x 2 in.
The sphere is embedded with the inverted image of David Bowie. The irises of both eyes in the sculpture are tubes that transect the interior of the sphere - opening out on the opposite side.
Prior to each presentation, green acrylic is poured into the right eye and blue into the left; each eye pour corresponding to Bowie's famously mismatched iris coloration. The paint that is poured into the eyes spills out the back of the openings onto the wood platform - leaving a permanent stain.
